Dr. Tommie
Dahlmann is a licensed and board-certified addictions counselor and a certified
eating disorders specialist with over twenty-five years of experience. She went
into private practice in 1984 and soon after, established Dahlmann and
Associates, Inc., one of the first wellness centers in San Antonio. The center
treated body, mind and spirit, and was active in research through the Division
of Addictive Diseases in the Department of Pharmacology of The University of
Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
In the fall of
1991 she closed Dahlmann and Associates, Inc. and went into premature
semi-retirement due to her late husband’s ill health. Since 1993, Dr. Dahlmann
has traveled the world studying addiction and eating disorder treatments and
healing through nutrition and other naturopathic modalities.
Dr. Dahlmann
was the executive director of San Antonio Turning Point, a drug/alcohol
out-patient treatment program for adolescents and their families. She did
interventions and intervention training for La Hacienda, an in-patient treatment
program. She established and directed the San Antonio aftercare office for
Schick Shadel Hospitals, a national treatment organization specializing in the
diseases of addiction.
Dr. Dahlmann
reorganized and developed treatment programs, and was executive director of The
Alpha House, a halfway house for women with alcohol/drug problems. Dr. Dahlmann
has instituted programs and techniques that allows clients to change behavior
patterns and quickly reprogram their beliefs without bringing up historical
material that may be overwhelming and thus block or impair the healing process.
Her psychotherapeutic methods draw on the often unrecognized resourcefulness and
creativity of her clients to enable their personal understanding and change.
She is now
helping people understand the physical and psychological aspects of their dis-ease.
Dr. Dahlmann also helps her clients understand what she calls
“conscious-evolution”. Conscious-evolution is learning to focus thoughts and
emotions on what is desired in life and creating what is wanted instead of
focusing on fears and creating what is not wanted. She leads workshops on many
topics for both professional and lay participants and provides consulting for
businesses. Dr. Dahlmann is now married to a medical scientist/ naturopathic
physician and they see clients by referral.
